I am not a proponent of snacking...
I feel like my kids eat what I make because I don't feed them whenever they ask during the day.
Consequently, they are hungry at meal times.
I'm not judging others, it's just what works for us.
But we do have to have something healthy, cheap and easy (order of importance), to eat at 10:30 and 2:30...
SOOO.... Internets...
Healthy, cheap, easy family snacks (remember, all 5 of us are home all day).
What do you/did you feed your kids?
What did your parents feed you?
What did your Grandmas feed your parents?
Thanks in advance.
Apple slices and cheese-either slices or string cheese
ReplyDeletePistachios are a new favorite
Cheese quesadillas-I love these because I can use corn tortillas and they're super easy to make gluten free for K.
Cucumber and carrots with sour cream or ranch
Celery and PB or ranch
Hummus and pita chips-I am picky about humus but the girls usually love it
Popcorn
we don't usually snack either. when they do, i give them cheese sticks, goldfish, an apple or orange, fruit snacks. sometimes if we've had healthy breakfast and lunch i'll give them a cookie or something treatish. my kids are awesome eaters, and i think it's because they aren't grazing all day. my mom was always super lax when it came to snacking/not eating what she prepared, and i was SO picky and pretty much never ate anything good for me. i vowed not to do that to my kids and it's worked.
ReplyDeleteI second all of the above and would just add:
ReplyDeleteapplesauce
plain greek yogurt with a mix in (agave syrup or fruit preserves are the favorites here)
multigrain nachos (you know the FSTG chips that are ridiculously delicious- yeah those and some real cheese) Actually this is more of a meal than a snack around here.
toast
Good luck!
