What I thought about the Lion,Witch & Wardrobe- By Lilly

What was your favorite part of the book?
They got to queen and king.
Was there part of the book when you were worried?
Peter was going to die.
Was there part of the book when you got excited.
It was the killing part, that Aslan got alive.
Was there part of the book that you didn't like?
They carved his red mane, they cut it off.
Who was your favorite character in the book? Why?
Lucy. Because she told her brothers and sister about the wardrobe. And then Peter knowed the wardrobe.

The Cows and The Dogs talk...

We went for a walk this afternoon, it was beautiful... and while we were out we met Butch, the black and white  great dane stud who lives around the block. As we walked away, Lilly turned and looked back, then looked up at me and said, "Mom, I saw his udder."

I guess he's almost as big as a cow... he's black and white...
this is not Butch, this is 'Odin' but you get the idea

anyway, we had a little talk about boys and girls 'buns'....
Thanks Butch for the uh, teaching moment.

BIG LISTS

I am a list writer...
I am not a list doer...
That is just the truth.

I write my list, and then I put it somewhere and don't have to look at it anymore.
The problem with this method, is that I write important things on my lists...
Things that do need to to be done.

I think I have found a solution... It seems to be working, but a month in who can really say right?
Meet the BIG LIST board.
The girls and I write it in the morning at breakfast.
We write what needs to be done and we write things we could do after we do everything that needs to be done.

It is working... for now... I guess I just needed a list as big as my table so I can't ignore it...
(Maybe it is also working because instead of having a LONG list, this one is short and HUGE. So even though it has very little on it, it feels like a big accomplishment)

What I thought about the Lion the Witch & the Wardrobe By Havah

What was your favorite part of the book?

Um, When the big Giant, I mean when Lucy, felt better. And when Lucy met Mr. Tumnus before he got turned into stone.

Was there a part of the book that made you worried?

Well, when Aslan was going to die or not.

Was there a part of the book that made you excited?

When Lucy got to go to the old man's place, I mean the Professor.

What was the happiest part of the book?

When Mr. Tumnus got out of stone, because I was so worried that he would stay stone forever.

Who is your favorite person in the book?

Um, first Mr. Tumnus. And also the Giant, Mr. Rumblebuffin, because that is the silliest name ever.

Where do I get the edited version?

Where do I get this barbie for Havah?
(Minus the hoochy makeup... seriously, it's a little girl's doll...)

Into the Wardrobe!

The girls and I have been reading The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe for the last week. We are about 3/4 of the way through. I think this is my favorite book I've read with them so far. They are totally enthralled. My favorite part of reading this book though has been watching them start to guess at what is going to happen next. And they are making their guesses by remembering what happened earlier in the book, last night they didn't even get scared the White Witch was coming to get the beavers and children because Havah remembered that the dwarf didn't put bells on the sledge to chase them. That was like a chapter before! And, then Lilly totally guessed that the sledge was going to be Santa and not the Witch.

We are having a great time!

I can't remember though, so I will ask opinions from people who do remember, (please don't base your comment of of the movies) if the next two books would be appropriate (read not overly violent/scary) for a 4&5 year old?

Cranberry Sauce 101

To make home made cranberry sauce, you will need:

1 bag fresh Cranberries, they don't have to be ocean spray, this is just the picture the internet provided.

about 3 cups water, you want them to be about 1/4-1/2 inch covered (note: some will float)
1-2 cups white sugar (to taste)

Dump it all in a 2 quart sauce pan and boil the heck out of it, and in about 20 minutes you will have this:

SOOO yummy, way better than anything out of a can.
And as an added bonus, when you say "The cranberry sauce is homemade." it sounds like so much effort...
but was easier than making ramen.
After making this, I believe that they must strain the berries from the juice and put one in a can called 'jellied' and the rest in a can called 'whole berry' because this is the perfection that neither of those products will ever be.

First Impressions: Bread Dough

He prefers the finished product....

(Yes he is standing on a stool. No I did not put him on it. He's got this climbing up & down thing in the bag.)

Why don't I hear more 'feminist' support?

If you are a women, or you know women, or you are a girl, or you know a girl... you need to listen to and really consider this.

If women are so important, why are we still (as a global culture and society) sexualizing  women and little girls?
Why isn't part of our demanded respect, demanding respect for our bodies?

Genes are awesome!

We must have pretty even genes... because they could be cousins... maybe... but sisters?
I mean look at that... if I didn't know it myself, I would question their 'full blood relative' status.
Cute and Weird seem to be equally distributed though...
