Going Tomato

Havah just came out of the bathroom from after taking her night time pull-up off.
Instead of asking me to bring her some panties she just slipped her pj pants back on. Cori told her to go tell mom she was going commando today.

(self portrait)

"Hey Mom! We're going tomato!"

Gramee Great +Garden+Daddy and the Cannon

Allergies fog my mind this morning.
So some disjointed thoughts and cute pictures.
For the record I have never had allergies in my life... until this week.
Why is that?

We had a nice visit with Gramee Great on her way home from Jordan and Alex's wedding in Oregon. We're getting excited for everyone to come in three weeks for Grandpa and Grandma RaLyn's wedding.

"Papa Busy" has been hard and work in his garden of late. We have peas, more lettuce than we can eat, potatoes, tomatoes... it's all growing growing. And we discovered Havah's love affair with fresh swiss chard. She'd eat it all day.

On Friday we went backpacking with some friends from church. We had a blast! ( I don't know if this body of mine will be able to do that again this year though) Lilly and her belongings road on my back and Daddy carried EVERYTHING else. We camped on a beautiful little bluff in the mountains. On Saturday Daddy and Havah worked in the garden and swam- and fired their 'cannon' all over the place.

It was a good week at the Alcorn house.

Now... is Bennadryl safe for a pregnant woman?
Think I'll go call my midwife.

Yesterday a miracle happened.
A big mistake turned into the best thing in the whole world when this sweet angel was born:

This is our friend's new baby.
We are so excited for them, they have waited so long.
Yay for brave birth mothers & fathers, lucky couples, and sweet angle babies.
God is good.

The Enemy Follows Behind

I was on etsy tonight looking at art prints trying to get some more inspiration for our master bedroom when I stumbled across this lovely... (to those who may find this in appropriate I apologize).
I laughed my head off... tears.

Because... well, that is funny.

**Note: I was not looking for paintings of buttocks to hang on our wall. It's that lovely raspberry background that got me to this lovely backside.**

we'll regret it later...

Lilly has eaten 2 bananas a handful of grapes and almost half a cantaloupe this morning.

Pretty sure I'm going to regret that later.
But what is fruit for if not to be enjoyed by someone who really knows how to enjoy it?

Jack rocking out, "Because you're not hard core!!!

Unless you EAT hard core!!!"

Yes, she is hard core. she eats strawberries whole, greens at all.

And she gets crazy eyes!

Things that made us happy on Friday... uh, I mean Thursday.

I woke up this morning and realized yesterday was Thursday.
Not Friday.
You'd think I'd get it. We babysat our friends kids last night who we babysit every THURSDAY.
I must have you know what brain.

We had special 'Friday' dinner. Amoeba Alphabet crepes. Yummy.

All my crepes last night ended up with this stringy parts... hence the Amoeba.

And this is from last "Friday". I just forgot to post it.

Load upon Load = Line upon Line

I had a moment of awakening last Sunday.
I was feeling the need to put my house in order.
I am a bad house keeper. This blog should probably be called 'Sometimes it's Clean'. Just being honest.

Anyway, I was thinking and pondering on what I needed to do to start to change that about myself, and the inspiration/conclusion I came to was that it is all a matter of time management. I am not so busy that I can't keep a tidy house. I'm just being lazy.

So I made out a schedule for each day, so that I could see open blocks of time and weekly commitments. I figured out that the best way would be to pick a chore every day (for example: mop and vacuum all down stairs floors), and when that along with 2 load of laundry & picking up the living room and play room with the girls is done, my cleaning for the day is done (besides the "clearing the table and washing dishes" part of life). Today is Sunday. And except for the toys in the play room the girls got out last night, my house is pretty tidy, and I had time to study and meditate every day this week (it was scheduled).

On Monday when I started my little plan, I got so excited about it I was going to just do all my chores! I caught myself just in time, and remembered the reason why I am doing it this way is because I get caught up, do it all in one day and then don't do anything for two weeks. I am trying to change who I am.

I can feel that this is my lesson to learn now, "27 And see that all these things are done in wisdom and aorder; for it is not requisite that a man should run bfaster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order." (Mosiah 4:27).

Wisdom, order and diligence.

Father and what's camp out?

Tonight is the Father and Son's camp out.
Once a year, all the boys and their fathers in the ward, pack up and go camping in a thunder storm. (just being honest).

This is Cori's second year organizing the Father and Son's Camp Out.
Are you saying to yourself, "But you don't have any sons."
We know. It's just part of his calling (job) in our ward.

So tonight the girls and I are hanging out at home, eating pizza and playing with friends who's dad and brother are also out "enjoying the weather".

The point is to brag on my sweet husband, because he has a lot of other things he could be doing this weekend. He has a lot of other things that he needs to get done, but he had a responsibility- and so he is sleeping 2 hours from home on a foam pad with Sadie.

I like him.

A lot.

Happiness is...

Playing with big bouncy balls in a warm rain,

and then taking your underwear off outside... even though you were told not too.
